Congratulations to CIBEL's Latest PhD Graduate

The CIBEL team would like to congratulate Dr Shuo Yang on the completion of her PhD thesis.  

Shuo conducted her research on ‘Reforming the Corporate Governance of Not-for-profit Residential Care Institutions’ under supervisors Associate Professor Charlie (Xiao-chuan) Weng and Associate Professor Marina Nehme.  

Shuo holds an LLM in Business Law from Queen Mary University of London and a Research Master’s Degree from Shandong University of Finance and Economics. She has published several papers on not-for-profit law and charity law, , and has presented at international conferences. Currently, she teaches at Shandong Jinazhu University where her research focuses on corporate law, corporate governance, charity law, and comparative law.  

During her studies Shuo competed in the UNSW 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, a platform which facilitates the knowledge-exchange between UNSW PhD candidates, their peers, and the broader UNSW community. Shuo Yang was awarded Joint Third Prize for her thesis presentation on 'Reforming corporate governance laws of Chinese non-profit nursing homes' and the People’s Choice Award.
