The Co-director of UNSW Law’s China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre Associate Professor Heng Wang recently served as Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI).
The Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship Program of the EUI provides a framework for established academics with an international reputation for short stays.
Associate Professor Wang was hosted by Professor Jurgen Kurtz during the Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow. He has conducted research on China’s approach to international economic governance in the context of economic (de)globalisation that involves the trade war and the Belt and Road Initiative.
During the fellowship, Associate Professor Wang also participated in events at the EUI. Moreover, he has had fruitful discussions with colleagues within and outside the Institute on interdisciplinary research.
The EUI is located in Florence, a city of Italy, and it is a unique international centre for doctorate and post-doctorate studies and research. The Institute “offers one of the largest doctoral and postdoctoral programmes in the social sciences in Europe”. This is not the first time for Associate Professor Wang to conduct research at the Institute as he was Max Weber Fellow at the EUI.
