Professor Mimi Zou attends ACBC roundtable with Australia’s next Deputy Ambassador to China

13 June 2024

On Friday 24 May, CIBEL member Professor Mimi Zou was invited by the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) to participate in a closed roundtable discussion with Australia’s next Deputy Ambassador to China, James Fisher, at KPMG.

The event was convened by Patrick Mayoh, CEO (NSW) of ACBC and Helen Zhi Dent, Partner of KPMG. CIBEL Advisory Group member Doug Ferguson, who also serves as KPMG NSW Chairman, moderated the discussion. Professor Zou engaged in the conversation with Ambassador James alongside other ACBC NSW members, including Hon Andrew Robb AO, Jasmine Antonious, James McIntosh, Matthew Gerber, James Laurenceson and Garry Simonian, before his representation of Australia’s interests from Beijing.

This event builds on ACBC NSW’s roundtables with John Williams (then Australian Consul-General-designate for Shanghai), Dominic Trinidade (Austrade’s China General Manager-designate), and Meaghan Shaw (Australia’s next Consul-General to Chengdu). It provided opportunities for ACBC members to meet senior officials before their diplomatic postings. The roundtable also aimed to equip senior public servants with valuable business insights before they represent Australia’s interests in China.
